Nie Huaisang is such a character. He can faint on command. The character guide in the novel describes him as a dandy and lists his weapons as saber (ostensibly) and crying (actually). He stalked a canary for several days and then sneaked it into class. He collects porn and shares it with his friends. He's in a sword wizard society and his clan in particular is known for their blades but he never once has a fight scene. His characteristic accessory is a paper fan. He failed summer camp twice. He formed a Golden Core nearly a decade later than everyone else his age. When his brother was killed he set in motion a several years long revenge scheme that involved both careful planning and insane improv. He built a reputation on not knowing anything. He threw himself on his brother's killer weeping and saying "if you don't help me I'm killing myself in front or you." Truly who is doing it like him

Ten years on, I have so many questions about one line of dialogue in Teen Wolf 3B...

We see the chess board with all the names on it and the names correlating with the pieces would suggest that Stiles has an understanding of chess at the bare minimum. But was Stiles a chess kid? And if he is/was or does play chess, how did Peter know? Does Stiles play chess with Peter? Is this just Peter's way of saying Stiles knows how to play games? Is he saying Stiles knows how to strategize and think tactically?

Genuinely if you feel like everything is going terribly, start by fixing one thing at a time. Once you get the ball rolling it all gets easier. Start by taking a multivitamin or by getting better sleep. Pick one thing and focus on that one thing until it's better. And CELEBRATE EVERY SUCCESS NO MATTER HOW SMALL.

Do not fall into the trap of downplaying every little success!!! If that little success is "I made my bed today" FUCK YEAH BROTHER. if your success is "I got out of bed today" FUCK YES MY DUDE. I am so proud of you. If today is your first day clean I'm so proud of you. If you're not clean today but you're not as bad as you were yesterday I'm proud of you. If today is the day you decided to pick up a book for the first time in years I'm proud of you.

You can ignore your failures. I'm so serious. You failed? Move on. Learn from it, don't dwell on it. Spend all your time focused on your next success. Cause you WILL succeed. It may not look like the success you expected. But you're gonna make it.

And success is different for everyone. For some people success is just contentment. For some it's graduating. For some it's being sober, being healthy, being in less pain, being more comfortable with your body, adjusting to a new sense of self, divorcing a terrible spouse. Whatever it is, I believe in you and I love you.

went to bed and woke up in a cold sweat realizing that claudia's play, the birdie one, is both a direct analogy for her story and also foreshadowing of her death WHILE ALSO nodding to pauls death

claudia'a single minded, desperate drive for freedom eventually lead her directly to her death. she was "nailed down" by lestat (by LOUIS, actually- lestat only kept her for him.), and tore herself free at the loss of her 'foot,' being a stand in for the personal pain she suffered for freedom

no matter what she or anyone did, she was going to die painfully, because she was so desperate to be free that everything was suffocating. lestat, louis, romania, the coven. the only thing that didnt rot in her mind was madeline, because... there simply wasnt time. madeline was fresh and new and, given time, would have probably suffered the same heel-turn claudia gave to everything.

of course thats because she shared louis' hopeful outlook. being free of her parents? would fix everything. when it didn't? maybe if she had louis, it would be worth it. but its not, lestats still here, louis is still in love with him... killing lestat, thatll fix it, and she and louis will be happy in romania, right, the homeland for vampirekind? not quite, so better try paris, the city of love. that doesnt work. the coven, though, will give her what she wants, right? she'll be happy with other vampires?

the only person who makes her happy is? a modern version of lestat? a weird white woman she met on happenstance, who has little to no care for societal norms or faux pas. a blunt, kind of funny, kind of sad woman who lost her family but has a capacity for enduring because what else is she going to do? die? no, she cant do that. she had no friends because she was weird and offputting and had dangerous rumors, no hangups on loving claudia, no hangups on dying or being a killer.

that's... just lestat. without the immortality and the specific traumas, of course, but like. claudia's most beloved person was a funhouse mirror of her most hated. which really speaks volumes for what they could have had, because it wasnt just a clash of personalities. it was lestats bpd clashing with hers and both of their attachment to louis clashing. if lestat had been better at sharing, if louis had been better at loving both of them, if claudia had been less angry at the world for nothing but existing? maybe they could have been a good family. a happy one forever, just like they all wanted, but were unable to give each other

Hey y'all, it's that time of the year again. For those who don't know, Wait in the Wings is a YouTube channel that focuses on preserving theater history through extraordinary documentaries. Think Defunctland, but for theater! Some of the shows he's covered include Seussical, Hadestown, Carrie: the Musical, Starlight Express, and many many more - his most recent being the Great Gatsby on Broadway.

Steve harrington is fucking good in Chess, he could easily go to Chess Olympics and get in the top 10 best players.

He started playing when he was around 6-7, his nonna teach him with and old and beautiful chess board made of wood, the pieces of chess where shiny and not made with the traditional black and white and materials, no, they where made of a green bright stone that he can’t remember the name, and the other half where bones of animals that where already dead.

Steve was the one who ask to play someday, and nonna excited access to teach him. He was good, a natural you can say, and he enjoyed so much, that every time he was at nonna’s house, they play, not always following the rules, sometime they change them and makes originals, with backstory’s and wars. But nonna dies when he was 12 and he stop playing, even so he remember how to play.

Now, the chessboard and the pieces are save in an old oak box with the carving “Stevie and Nonna Lina chessboard.”
